GOAL 1 Advance the field
Advance the field of education by enhancing the knowledge, skills, and abilities of teacher candidates, educators, and education leaders to teach, to learn, and to lead digital-age education effectively.
OBJECTIVES:
1.1 Advance the art and science of teaching, learning, and educational leadership with and about technology through research, development, professional learning offerings, and other capacity-enhancing activities.
1.2 Provide leadership in envisioning emerging technologies and their implications for teaching, learning, and educational leadership.
1.3 Facilitate the dissemination and sharing of thought leadership, expertise, research findings, and promising and effective practices to enhance learning through technology across the curriculum.
1.4 Identify, recognize, and publicize innovation with technology that fosters highly effective teaching, learning, and educational leadership.
1.5 Leverage expert resources and established networks to foster engaging, rigorous, and relevant education through the effective use of technology.
GOAL 2 Membership
Grow a diverse and engaged global membership while building members’ leadership and capacity for success.
OBJECTIVES:
2.1 Increase, support, and retain an engaged ISTE global membership through vibrant learning communities.
2.2 Provide multiple opportunities for members to participate in and support the work of the organization.
2.3 Design, implement, and institutionalize leadership development to ensure renewal of leadership for the organization.
2.4 Build bridges and grow membership internationally by coordinating outreach efforts of members, ISTE ambassadors, executive leadership, and staff.
2.5 Partner with teacher education programs to develop and recognize future educational technology leaders.
GOAL 3 Articulate and Advocate
Advocate for resources and policies supporting the effective use of technology to improve teaching, learning, and leadership.
OBJECTIVES:
3.1 Build capacity among ISTE members and the larger education community for educational technology advocacy at global, regional, national, state, and local levels.
3.2 Develop and communicate advocacy positions and a compelling rationale that supports effective use of technology in education.
3.3 Provide up-to-date information about emerging policy issues and opportunities for action.
GOAL 4 Organizational Excellence
Grow an adaptive self-renewing global learning organization that is optimized to ensure the achievement of its mission and goals.
OBJECTIVES:
4.1 Formalize a process for aligning ISTE’s strategic goals and objectives with the allocation of resources and evaluation of executive leadership that includes implementing measures and establishing benchmarks for tracking success.
4.2 Nurture ISTE's long-term health and growth through increasing organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and reputation for quality.
4.3 Lead by example in using appropriate emerging tools to foster communication, collaboration, and membership development.
4.4 Recruit and retain a high-quality ISTE staff in support of a creative, flexible, collaborative, and accountability-oriented workplace.
